FUSE BOX REPLACEMENT – POWERING YOUR PROPERTY SAFELY.

Fuse boxes, also known as fuse boards or consumer units, are a vital part of your electrics. They control all of the electrical circuits in your property.

They are also something regularly forgotten about until a fault is discovered and all too often that fault can develop into something more serious. Worryingly, electrical fires account for 20,000 fires in the UK each year.

To avoid the risk of electrical fire or electric shocks, it’s important that you maintain the health of your fuse box. Replacing older fuse boxes with modern consumer units with RCDs can be life-saving and prevent serious incidents from happening.

BENEFITS OF A NEW FUSEBOX

Z

KEEPS YOUR FAMILY SAFE

Modern consumer units are fitted with RCDs that detect faults before they become dangerous and instantly shut off the electricity.

Z

REDUCES RISK OF SHOCK

Almost all electric shocks that occur in the home could have been prevented if an up-to-date fuse box with an RCD was installed.

Z

ENERGY-EFFICIENCY

Replacing an old fuse board with a modern consumer unit will improve the energy-efficiency of your property.

Z

AVOID BLOWN FUSES

Old fuse boxes usually require a fuse replacement if the circuit trips. With modern units, you can have power again with the flip of switch.

Z

REDUCES RISK OF FIRE

Around 50% of fires that happen in the home are electrical fires.  Many could have been avoided if there was an upgraded consumer unit.

Z

MEETS REGULATIONS

Installation of a consumer unit that meets current regulations. Particularly important for rental properties.

FAQS

We’ve tried our best to answer some questions that you may have. If you have a question that we haven’t answered, please feel free to send us a message – we’ll be happy to help.

How much does it cost?

A consumer unit replacement varies in price depending on the size of the property, parts, and time taken.  However, we aim to price our work fairly.  Please feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation survey for a better idea of cost.

What is a Residual Current Device (RCD)?

A residual current device works by cutting out the electricity if there is an electrical fault. Potentially saving lives and avoiding electric shocks and fires.

How long will it take?

The time required to complete the job depends on the size of the property and the work needed.  Please allow for a day.  However, our electricians will advise on an estimated time ahead of the job.

Can I replace the fuse box myself?

Consumer unit replacement is a tricky job. It’s important that it is done correctly as an incorrect installation could mean a risk to life. Always use a qualified electrician who can provide certification that the installation has been done properly.

Do I need to replace my fuse box?

If your current consumer unit is up to date and working correctly, then no. However, if your fuse box is old or faulty and you don’t replace it then you run the risk of causing harm to your property, tenants or family.
